PrivatePhone Alternatives Print E-mail
Friday, 15 February 2008

Okay, just did a little research, this is the information I have gathered for Private Phone alternatives. K7.com and LaserVoiceMail.com give a (206) area code only. Grandcentral, a service by Google, supposedly has a nice service as well, for free. jConnect.com gives you a free number, it is outside the (206) area code, but you have to pay to get a local number. The most promising service I have found is Voicemail4free.com . It gives you 30 minutes a month for free, and if the minutes go over 30, the phone number is locked or frozen until the next month and starts over. I just tried signing up, they have limited states to choose from for a local area code, so maybe you will be lucky. I was not. Also try looking into Numbr.com. I didn't sign up for this one, and I'm not entirely sure of how it works, but I saw a few references to it on various forums. AIM also has a service, AIMphoneservice.com, but this is dependent on having AIM messenger, which I do not. Feel free to e-mail me with additional companies that give free Internet phone numbers,  and let me know if one of the above methods work for ya!
