What the Heck is "GPT"? Print E-mail
Tuesday, 22 January 2008

GPT stands for "Get Paid To". GPT Sites offer compensation for people to try out products (trial offers), take surveys, sign-up for products and sign-up for programs. Now, "Why?" you might ask. Company advertising is branching out from TV and standard mail. They know we are out and about on the net, so why not? Saves paper too! =)

Age requirements for most sites are 18 and older. There are a few sites where age requirements are only 13! A few sites that require a minimum age of 13 include: Fusion Cash, Treasure Trooper, DealBarbiePays, and CashCrate. Please e-mail me if you know of any other sites.

For simplicity, there are 2 basic types of offers included in GPT sites, Freebie Offers and Trial Offers:

Freebie offers usually require you to provide personal contact information, answer a few questions, and BAM! you get paid. So, I bet you are thinking, "Ummm, I'm not giving anyone my info." The use of a free Internet phone number takes away the stress of getting harassing phone calls. You have to provide an e-mail address, and yes, it is going to get spammed, but that is why you make separate e-mail addresses for GPT sites. This is explained more in a more detailed guide, GPT Tips and Tricks. The only really personal information you have to provide is your name and address (no P.O.boxes).  Of the hundreds of freebie surveys I have done to date, I have received one letter. It costs money to send stuff in the mail, which would defeat the purpose of using the Internet to advertise.

Trial offers require a credit card to receive the product. Freebie offers are just that, 100% free. Now before you turn away, you do not have to do trial offers to make money. The main advantage of doing trial offers is higher monetary compensation. To date, I have done one trial offer. You can make big bucks off doing trial offers if you cancel before the trial period ends, but most GPT websites ask you only do trial offers on products you are actually interested in. Because of abuse to this system, some companies don't offer compensation for trying offers until after the trial period is over.

All the GPT sites listed on MsGPT.com are legit companies that pay their members. These sites are 100% free to join, if you ever stumble across a site that requires a sign-up fee, do not join. One good thing I can say about the GPT industry is that scam artists don't last long. People will squawk, yes I said squawk, if they don't get paid. GPT websites won't make money if you don't do their freebie and/or trial offers.
